Dr Andrew Bisits - Obstetrician & Gyneacologist

Dr Andrew Bisits has been working in Obstetrics and Gynaecology since 1984.

He was till recently an Associate Professor at the University of Newcastle and Director of Obstetrics at John Hunter Hospital. In October 2010 he moved to the Royal Hospital for Women in Randwick, Sydney to take up the position of Director of the Birthing Unit there.

He has a close working relationship with various midwifery models of care these being; Birth Centre midwifery practice, midwifery involvement in the care of high risk and special needs pregnancies, midwifery led birthing service within the hospital. He also provided substantial support and backing needed to get the free standing midwifery led birthing service established at Belmont Hospital. His expertise includes Obstetric care of vaginal breech presentations, vaginal birth after caesarean section, twin births and medical problems in pregnancy. He enjoys playing a number of musical instruments and plays regularly in a band. He also enjoys tennis and has recently taken up cycling.
