Angela Kirby Angela Kirby is one of a small number of leading contemporary Australian Artists who is reaching an ever increasing international audience with her work. Angela was born in Melbourne, and bought up in the south east of South Australia. The pieces Angela will exhibit at the Festival will come from her inspirational mandala collection. 'Mandalas are a very sacred part of me, of us and of life and I certainly feel a great privilege to continue drawing them. And so when I go to my easel I just begin. I don't have a plan as that is not what these are about for me. Vastly different than how I work with my paintings.' |

Emma Kruszynski Largely self taught in weaving, I have explored different styles over the last 10 years, by working with other artists and community groups here in South Australia and New South Wales. I have exhibited in both solo and group exhibitions since 2000. I find that my motivation and inspiration to create come from very different sources depending on what is happening around me. Sometimes it is Russian architecture, sometimes my garden, and for these pieces, birth and its journey for both mother and child. A couple of these were created last year during my second pregnancy, the others were created drawing from memories of the early days of motherhood. I like the textures and energy of weavings in relation to this phase of life. Organic, sometimes fraught with tension, other times loose and open. |
