The Beautiful Birth Festival is extremely proud to present the award winning documentary film What Babies Want.

This timely and heart-opening film brings together ground-breaking information about what babies Lauren and Babytruly are, what they know, and how we can support them to be their best as they develop and grow. The experiences we have at our births sets up our perceptive neurology and influences the way we perceive the events of our lives. These early interactions shape our human ability to learn, to trust, and to develop relationships as we grow older.

The film is alive with captivating stories and remarkable personal experiences of infants, children, and adults.

What Babies Want is warmly narrated by NOAH WYLE, who recently completed a decade of award-winning work in his role as Dr. John Carter on ER, for which he has been recognized with five Emmy and three Golden Globe nominations. Noah has a strong sense of mission to speak for the well being of babies and children. As the narrator of What Babies Want, he adds warmth and humor as well as his own experiences with child birth and parenting to the film.

To tide you over until the Festival, below is a short documentary (approx 17 minutes) by the same producer / director as What Babies Want. The first 10 audience members to the What Babies Want Screening will recieve a FREE copy of the following DVD.

The below documentary, Reducing Infant Mortality and Improving the Health of Babies, advocates for a health care system in which it will be standard procedure for mothers and babies to thrive and not merely survive through birth and early life.

The film makes reference to some United States statistics. Here are some of the same statistics for Australian mums and babies:

  • Australia's infant mortality ranking is 32nd on the world stage (CIA World Fact Book)
  • Australia's caesarean rate is 31.1%* - more than double the World Health Organisation recommended rate of 10%-15%
  • 24.8% of Australian women had their labour induced*
