Soursob Bob

Soursob Bob

Soursob Bob is a master of writing songs that incorporate keen insights into human nature with  story telling, wit, humour, and the occasional scathing political observation.

He is also a well proven songwriter with years of experience at both writing and performing, receiving many commendations along the way including Best Male Solo Artist in dB Magazine's Readers Awards 2005, and  song Billabong Blues winning the  Victor Harbor Folk Festival Song Competition 2001.

In his pathos and irony, Soursob Bob is unmistakably Australian, he sings with his own voice, and in doing so helps the rest of us remember to stay true to ours.

“Soursob Bob is unlike anything else in Adelaide.  His music is an accomplished take on folk, with a definite Australian slant...Nothing is sacred in Soursob Bob's world, as he puts his spin on everyday occurrences, the unusual, even the political.”  - The Adelaide Advertiser

“…Soursob Bob had the audience in stitches with his “feral folk” songs, including the tune Reinvent Yourself. “I went to the songwriting consultancy and they told me that I needed to reinvent myself,” he sang, strumming his guitar, completely deadpan. “I told them that I hadn’t invented myself in the first place and we got into some kind of debate about intelligent design.”   - Article on The National Folk Festival Canberra Times April 2009.
