Who we are
The Beautiful Birth Festival management committee was founded in 2008 and consists of five working mothers with 18 children between us. We recognise that birth is one of the most meaningful and influential moments in life and we are passionate about supporting women, families and the community on this amazing journey.
Our contribution toward organising the Festival is on a purely voluntary basis and a large part of our motivation comes from our own birthing experiences which range from homebirth to birth centre to hospital to caesarean, each of which has been a uniquely beautiful experience - all 18 of them!
We have all been directly involved in maternity consumer services and have a combined total of over 40 years experience in voluntary community service and over 50 years experience in the corporate sector.
We are committed to improving the welfare of the community by ensuring that families are provided with balanced information to make truly informed decisions about their maternity care and that health professionals have the latest tools and information to assist them in their care for mothers and babies.
In preparing the Festival design and program we constantly strive to respond to the needs of the community, engage the best speakers in their field and showcase community groups and businesses. We have chosen to present the information and services within a vibrant cultural and artistic program that celebrates and reveres the absolute wonder of birth.
